Apparently God was smoking too much of that stuff that he was on when he made the platypus, and became paranoid - thus neccessitating code.

by JH inhttp://www.thei.aust.com/torah/codereview.html .
reporting is the first rough take on history.

Hey, Dan, the best thing is to experiment. You will screw things up - always have Cheerios as emergency backup - but the act of experimenting is great fun and the best recipes are the ones that you come up with yourself.

WT = Satan?
by Faraon inan idea has crossed my mind.. i don't think that any other religion uses the words "new light" more than the watchtower.. satan is also known as lucifer.. but the root words for lucifer are the latin "lux" which means "light", and "ferre" which means "to carry".
lucifer actually means "the light carrier".
imho, this would make the gb the equivalent of lucifer.

Just Because We Disagree With Someone Doesn't Mean They're Not Welcomed
by minimus ini am seeing something interesting going on the board here.
if a poster, especially, a new one says something considered unpopular around here, and another poster refutes or disagrees, some people suggest that we're not being kind or welcoming to new ones or to those that have a differing view.
i don't think that this is what we're collectively trying to tell a person that doesn't share the majority viewpoint.

Dakota, I'm going to disagree with you here.
Rush absolutely was using drugs to escape from reality.
The reality was (according to his statements) that his back hurt. That's still an escape, especially the way he was using them (we are not talking morphine addicts back from the Great War here). Many others have other painful areas of their life that they end up using drugs to escape from - this was the same thing exactly. His escape may have been from a particular health issue (if I didn't neccesarily buy it for Chevy Chase and others, I won't give Rush a free pass), but avoiding pain is avoiding pain - it never works, but we as a species still try it.
Will he stand up and make amends, and actually live a 12-step program? I doubt it. Unfortunately, with the lengths he was going to, it may take the full brunt of a 12-step program to manage that kind of voracious need.

I posted those humourous-but-with-a-point e-mails because at first this looked like a "reformed Witness" group. My mistake. This is a typical Christian group trying to troll (chum?) for XJWs that they think are easy pickings as long as they use the name Jehovah.
I would like to point out that a lot worse has been done to me on this board (in terms of name-calling, disrespecting, etc.) so the next time I'm called, for no good reason, a cowardly, illiterate "arrogant sob" by a longtime poster, I expect some of you on this thread to spring to action defending me. Or not :) Don't need it, but I guess I need to ask, how long do we have to be here before it's OK to flame our pajamas off? Once we reach Master, is that the demarcation point?

please be reminded of this alternative now that the watchtower society has brought horrible reproach upon god's good name.

Look, I'm being irrereverent, and smart-alecky, but any argument or position advanced here is always subjected to criticism and comment. A lot worse has happened to me on this board and no one made a peep. If he can't engage in the discussion (and he wouldn't) why is he here? How nice am I supposed to be to a proselytzer that comes into a public place and starts talking to me?
